The short version
- Audio Safe never records or stores audio. It only measures a numeric sound-pressure-level reading.
- Photos, video, and location are only captured if you choose to attach them to a measurement.
- Your measurements, photos, videos, and reports are stored locally on your device — Audio Safe has no company server that receives or stores this data.
- Payments are handled entirely by Stripe. Audio Safe never sees or stores your card details.
- We do not run ads, do not use analytics or ad-tracking SDKs, and do not sell your data.
1. Information we collect
Audio Safe is a screening-grade sound pressure level (SPL) assessment tool used by venue operators and safety consultants. Here is exactly what the app can collect, and when.
| Sound level readingsCore feature | While the meter is running, your device's microphone is used to calculate a real-time decibel (SPL) value. Audio Safe does not record, save, or transmit any audio. Only the numeric reading and the time it was taken are saved when you save a measurement point. |
|---|---|
| PhotosOptional | You may attach a photo to a measurement point (e.g., to document a speaker's position). This only happens if you tap to add one. |
| VideoOptional | You may attach a short (up to ~20 second) video clip to a measurement point. This only happens if you tap to record one. |
| LocationOptional | You may tag a measurement point with GPS coordinates, or place a pin on a map, to show where a reading was taken. Location is only captured if you use this feature. |
| Venue & contact details | Information you type in yourself — venue name, contact name, customer/reference number, session titles, and notes. |
| Payment informationNever collected by us | Audio Safe never asks for, receives, or stores card numbers or billing details. Payment happens on Stripe's own checkout page — see Section 5. |
2. How we use information
Everything you save in Audio Safe is used for one purpose: to help you build an accurate sound-exposure assessment for a venue, and to generate a PDF report from that data. Specifically, the app uses your saved information to:
- Display your measurement history for a venue or session.
- Calculate exposure metrics (e.g., NIOSH-style daily dose estimates) from your saved readings.
- Generate a PDF report — including any title page map, photos, or video-frame images you chose to include.
- Let you compare sessions at the same venue over time, if you choose to merge or trend them.
We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not build a profile of you for any purpose beyond the report you asked the app to create.
3. Where your data lives
Audio Safe stores everything — venues, sessions, measurement points, photos, videos, and location tags — locally on your device, using Apple's on-device SwiftData storage.Local only
Audio Safe does not operate a company server or database, and the current version of the app does not sync your data to iCloud or any other cloud service. That means:
- We cannot see your measurements, photos, videos, or reports — they never leave your device unless you choose to share them.
- If you delete the app, that data is deleted along with it, unless you exported or shared a copy first.
- PDF reports are generated on your device and only leave the device when you actively choose to share, print, or email one.
4. Permissions Audio Safe requests
iOS will ask your permission before Audio Safe can use any of the following. You can grant, deny, or revoke each one at any time in your device's Settings app, and the app is designed to keep working (with reduced functionality) if you say no.
| Microphone | Required for the core SPL meter. Used only to compute a live decibel reading — audio is never recorded or saved. |
|---|---|
| Camera / Photo Library | Only used if you choose to attach a photo or record a video for a measurement point. |
| Location | Only used if you choose to tag a measurement point with your current GPS position or a map pin. |
5. Payments
Audio Safe reports are unlocked through a flat-fee payment processed by Stripe, a third-party payment processor. When you choose to purchase a report, the app opens a Stripe-hosted checkout page in your browser. You enter your payment details directly with Stripe — Audio Safe never receives, transmits, or stores your card number, billing address, or any other payment credential.
Stripe's use of your payment information is governed by Stripe's own Privacy Policy, not this one.
6. Third-party services
The only third-party service Audio Safe currently relies on is Stripe, for payment processing (see above). We do not integrate advertising networks, analytics platforms, or social SDKs.
8. Retention and your choices
Because your data lives on your own device, you are in control of it at all times:
- View or delete any venue, session, or measurement point directly within the app.
- Delete everything at once by deleting the app from your device.
- Export or share a report or media file only when you actively choose to.
Since we do not hold a copy of your data on any server, there is nothing further for us to delete on our end when you remove the app.
9. Security
Your data is protected by the same device-level security you already rely on for your phone or tablet — including your device passcode, Face ID/Touch ID, and iOS's file protection. Because Audio Safe does not transmit your measurement data anywhere, there is no server-side transmission for that data to intercept. Payment transmission is protected by Stripe's own industry-standard security (PCI DSS compliant infrastructure).
10. Children's privacy
Audio Safe is intended for use by venue operators, event staff, and safety consultants, and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the relevant minimum age in your region). If you believe a child has provided information through the app, please contact us using the details below and we will address it.
11. California, EU/UK, and other regional rights
Because Audio Safe stores your data locally rather than on our servers, there is generally very little of your personal information for us to access, correct, or delete on request — you already have direct control over it in the app. If you are located in California, the European Union, the UK, or another region with its own privacy law, and you have questions about your rights under that law (such as access, correction, deletion, or portability), contact us using the details in Section 13 and we will respond consistent with applicable law.
12. Changes to this policy
If we change what Audio Safe collects or how it's used — for example, if we add cloud sync, crash reporting, or analytics in a future version — we will update this page and change the "last updated" date at the top. If a change is significant, we will also describe it in the app's release notes.
